| Seyit Jemaletdin Mosque. Among an insignificant
number of the Timurids epoch monuments on the territory of Turkmenistan the
mosque of Seyit Jemaletdin in Anau was the most brilliant one. According to the
inscriptions on its facades and its interior it was built when Khorosan was
ruled by Abu Kasim Baber Bahadurhan (1446/1457). Its construction was financed
by his vezir Muhammed Khudaiot, who chose the site near the grave of his father
Jemaletdin, Anau was born |

| Geokdepe - Mosque, fortress
ruins and cemetery 40 minutes by car to the west of Ashgabat. This site
includes the remains of the ancient fortress Geokdepe and modern Saparmyrat
Haji Mosque. Geok-Depe is a fortress of the 19th century where a particular
bloody battle took place between the Turkmen and the Russians in 1881 where
Russian made an attempt to take over
Turkmenistan. In

| Kov-Ata Underground Lake located in Baharly (former
Bakharden) at the foothills of the Kopet-Dag Mountains (107km to the west of
Ashgabat). The Turkmen name Kov-Ata means “father of caves”. At a first glance

| The mausoleum is situated in a small village named
Mane in Kahka region of Turkmenistan. It was built during the reign of Seljuk
Empire in 11-12th centuries. This mausoleum was constructed over the grave of
the famous follower of Sufism and great philosopher in Eastern literature Abu
Said Maneyi who lived during the period of 968-1049. Approximate time of its
construction estimated to be the middle of 11th century. From the early
childhood Abu Said began his education. At the age of 12 he could already utter
three thousand lines in Arabic language by heart. He studied in Mary and gained
his education from famous people of that period Abu-Zahir and Abu-Fazil |

| Mausoleum of Il-Arslan is connected with the name of Fakhr-ad-din Razi scientist
who died in Heart in 1208. The oriental date of the construction of the
mausoleum is XII-XIII centuries. The mausoleum presents a small, almost square
erection, crowned with the twelve-sided marquee. The eastern facade wall with a
door has a beautiful decorative trim, made of ornamental masonry of the burnt
grinding bricks and frets ... |

| Mausoleum of Sultan Tekesh. Tekesh
was the 12th century Khorezmshah who made Khorezm great with
conquests as far as Khorosan (present day northern
Iran and
northern
Afghanistan). He built this mausoleum for himself, along with a big medressa and
library (which did not survive) on the same spot. After his death in 1200 he

| Najmeddin Kubra Mausoleum is the holiest spot in
Kunya Urgench. He was a famous and 12th and 13th century
Khorezm Muslim teacher and poet who founded the Sufic Kubra order. His tomb is
believed to have healing properties and you may find pilgrims praying here. The
